01 / Identify the program
Victorian Energy Upgrades discounts are managed through an accredited provider, which may use a partner installer. Ask who the provider is and whether your proposed product and replacement scenario qualify.
For heating and cooling, arrange the discount before work begins. Your quote should identify the existing equipment, replacement model and applicable discount. Ask which details still need a site assessment or further confirmation.
02 / Follow the right approval process
Solar Homes hot-water rebates have separate household, property and product requirements. The standard process uses an authorised retailer, a written quote and eligibility confirmation before installation. Check the current rules directly.
A separate process covers emergency replacement of broken or unsafe hot-water systems. Eligibility still has to be demonstrated. Tell the authorised retailer that you intend to apply; an urgent installation does not guarantee a rebate.
03 / Check the amount you will pay
Ask for equipment, installation, removal and additional work to be itemised, followed by each confirmed incentive and the balance payable. If incentives are combined, ask how the calculation works and what remains conditional.
Keep the quote, approval messages, agreed model and warranty information together. Check scheme requirements again before committing because conditions can change. Submit sensitive identity or income evidence only through the appropriate application process.
